Conference on October 18—19, 2021 in Anár (Inari, Finland)
What is an Indigenous Sámi archive today and in the future? What are the key questions in archiving Sámi Cultural Heritage? In this conference we open for discussion on archival Sámi cultural heritage issues. Together we explore to find solutions to develop practices and raise understanding of the archival Sámi heritage.
The Conference is organized by the Arctic Indigenous Design Archives (AIDA II) -project and the Digital Access to Sámi Heritage Archives -project. Our participating speakers and keynote lecturers are among others Jelena Porsanger, Jane Anderson, Mãui Hudson, and Jacob Adams.
The conference concentrates on the first day especially into the questions of archiving sámi duodji heritage and on the second day, we will introduce to you Nuohtti, a new search portal for Sámi-related archival materials around the European memory organizations, developed by the Digital Access to Sámi Heritage Archives -project.
