Reception pricing and general principles
Fees for reception of materials:
- Effective from 1 March 2026, fees apply to transfers made under the National Archives’ transportation agreement with Posti.
- If the library arranges the transfer of the material itself, no service fee is charged.
Composition of fees:
When using a transport service arranged by the National Repository Library, the sender is charged the following fees:
- transportation fees and
- a time-based service fee.
The invoicing takes into account the time spent on ordering and organising transport in Posti’s digital service or otherwise with Posti, as well as the controlled reception of the material in the reception facilities in Kuopio.
Service price:
minimum charge (1 hour) €51.70 (VAT 0%) / 64.88 (VAT 25.5%).
Invoicing takes place every six months.

Processing steps for material transfer:
- Consider whether the material is worth preserving and check the principles by which the National Repository Library accepts the material.
- Check that the material to be sent does not already exist in Vaari-Finna.
- Only send material in good condition that you would borrow yourself.
- Only send printed monographs and serial publications to the National Repository Library.
- Pack monographs and serial publications in different boxes. On top of each box, mark which of the two materials it contains.
- Pack serial publications logically by title, year and volume.
- A shipment containing several boxes must be packed on pallets, and the address labels must be attached to the adjacent sides of the pallets.

- Once the material to be transferred is clear: fill in the Transfer form for the National Repository Library material. (in Finnish and in Swedish)
- If you use the transportation service arranged by the National Repository Library: also complete the National Repository Library’s Transportation order form. (in Finnish and in Swedish)
- Always agree with the National Repository Library the time of transfer and way of organising transportation: whether the transportation organised by the National Repository Library will be used or whether the transferring library will arrange the transportation itself.
