Storage locations of the materials during the renovation of Rauhankatu

A large-scale renovation is underway at the National Archives’ Helsinki office in Rauhankatu, which will last until the end of 2028.

During the renovation, Rauhankatu’s materials are stored in various temporary facilities in the Helsinki region and in the National Archives’ central archive in Mikkeli. Some of the materials are kept in the Rauhankatu storehouse facilities, which are not part of the renovation.

A total of around 34 shelf kilometres of materials were moved from Rauhankatu to the temporary facilities. Due to the renovation, approximately 45 shelf kilometres of material were reorganised, including Rauhankatu’s map and drawing collections.

The temporary storehouse facilities in the Helsinki region:

  • Topelia: materials can be used in the special reading room, and deliveries are made on all open days
  • Siltavuori: materials can be used in the special reading room, and deliveries are made every two weeks (odd weeks)
  • Sturenkatu: materials can be used in the special reading room, and deliveries are made every two weeks (even weeks)

If necessary, contact our customer service for more information by using the Astia feedback form.
  • Vantaa: public materials can be used in the Vantaa reading room on all open days, and materials with access restrictions can only be used on Tuesdays.
