The National Archives will discontinue the direct telephone numbers of its branch offices.

The National Archives of Finland will discontinue the direct telephone numbers of its branch offices on 8 October 2024.

In future, you can contact the National Archives’ shared service number +358 29 533 7490 for matters related to visiting a reading room.

Until the end of the year, we will offer service at the number on days when the reading rooms are open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will offer service in Swedish from Tuesday to Friday from noon to 2 p.m. at +358 29 533 7491.

At the service number, the reading room staff will answer customers’ questions about the materials and visits to the reading rooms. Through the shared service, we can also provide advice to our customers on days when a specific location’s reading room is not open or on a reading room’s self-service day.

By centralising services and counselling, we can better respond to customers’ needs for advice nationwide and support the use of the archive materials regardless of time and space.

Please also keep in mind that the chat service on our website is open from Monday to Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. In particular, we answer quick questions related to the online services and digital materials.

Reading room and information request orders through the Astia web service

It is recommended that you order the documents you want in advance on our Astia online service so that they are ready when you arrive in the reading room. The orders are not accepted by phone.

We do not accept information request orders on the phone either. If you need information about the documents stored at the National Archives, the primary method is to use the information request forms of the Astia online service. Otherwise, you can contact the National Archives registrar’s office.
