The delivery of materials from the Rauhankatu storehouse facility to the special reading room will begin in August
The materials from Rauhankatu can be made available for researchers in our temporary facilities in the special reading room of the National Library, if the customer’s information needs cannot be met through a copy order.
A large-scale renovation is underway at the National Archives’ Helsinki office in Rauhankatu, which will last until the end of 2028.
During the renovation, Rauhankatu’s materials are stored in various temporary facilities in the Helsinki region and in the National Archives’ central archive in Mikkeli. You can check the storage locations of materials on our website: https://kansallisarkisto.fi/rauhankadun-peruskorjaus-aineistosiirrot.
Some of the materials were not removed from Rauhankatu, but were stored in storehouse facilities on Rauhankatu that are not going to be renovated.
During the temporary closure, information services will be provided primarily through the information request services located on Rauhankatu – it is possible to order copies of the materials. You can place a copy order either in Astia or by contacting the registrar of the National Archives.
The materials from Rauhankatu can also be made available for researchers in our temporary facilities in the special reading room of the National Library, if the customer’s information needs cannot be met through a copy order.
Deliveries of materials from Rauhankatu to the special reading room will begin on 20 August. Materials are delivered to the reading room once a month, always on Thursday of the second even week of the month. The delivery days for materials on Rauhankatu in 2026 are as follows: 20 August, 17 September, 15 October, 12 November, and 23 December. In December, the delivery day is exceptionally on Wednesday, 23 December, instead of Thursday, as Thursday is Christmas Eve.
During the temporary closure, materials from Rauhankatu cannot be ordered to the reading room through Astia, but staff will make the orders on behalf of the customer. If you need materials from Rauhankatu for use in the reading room, please contact our customer service through the Feedback button in Astia. Please select My Orders as the subject of your feedback, and we will contact you.
Materials are delivered from Rauhankatu to the special reading room once a month, so advance planning of reading room visits is important to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Thank you for contacting customer service well in advance of your planned visit!
